Offering patients a permanent solution to missing teeth, a dental implant consists of a medical grade titanium fixture that is surgically placed. This fixture acts as a root-like support for a replacement tooth. Following the implant placement and after a period of healing, the implant becomes integrated into the bone. A false (prosthetic) tooth is then fitted directly to the implant. This replacement option can be a crown, dental bridge or even a custom-made prosthesis.
